Linna Tieu-Linh Tran, acupuncturist

Welcome

I'm Linna Tieu-Linh Tran, an acupuncturist in Terrebonne.

A symptom never appears overnight, and it's usually connected to something else. Depending on what brings you in, I ask the questions that help me see the whole situation. Acupuncture works gently, but its effect on the body is very real.

01

How it works

The body responds to very fine stimulation.

Here's what happens in the body, in plain terms.

  • Boosts circulation

The needle brings more blood to the area, so the tissue gets what it needs to repair itself.

  • Eases pain

The nervous system changes how the pain signal is transmitted, which brings relief.

  • Settles the nervous system

The body shifts into rest mode, the heart rate slows, and most people fall asleep on the table.

  • Releases blockages

The needle helps free areas where energy and blood are stuck, so the body can get back to working as it should.

What I use

The tools you'll find in the clinic.

Techniques are chosen based on your case.

Acupuncture needles

Needles

Very fine, sterile and single-use. Most people don't feel them go in.

Cupping

Cupping

Gentle suction that lifts the tissue and gets circulation moving. It sometimes leaves round marks, which fade within a few days.

Gua sha

Gua sha

A smooth tool drawn across the skin to release muscle and fascia. It's used a lot for tension.

Also, as needed

Electroacupuncture, a very light current connected to the needles, to stimulate the point more steadily.

The heat lamp, deep warmth directed at one area, which encourages circulation in the treated zone.

The first visit

Here's what to expect at your first session.

Plan for about 60 minutes for the first appointment. Some people notice a difference quickly, others after a few treatments. Each session adjusts to how your body responds.

  1. 1

    Consultation

We go over what brings you in, your history and your daily habits. That's what shapes the treatment.

  2. 2

    Treatment

You lie down and get comfortable, and the treatment is based on what we discussed. Most people feel deeply relaxed during the session.

What to bring

A list of your medications and supplements, and any recent test results if you have them.

What to wear

Loose clothing or comfortable athletic wear. A tank top or t-shirt with shorts works very well.

Before you come

Eat something light, and avoid arriving on a completely empty stomach.

About

I saw what acupuncture could do long before it became my practice.

My husband has been an acupuncturist for several years. Receiving treatments myself showed me that acupuncture could do far more than I'd imagined, helping with sleep and digestion as much as with pain.

During my studies, I was most drawn to stress, digestion and women's health. Above all, my training taught me that everything in the body is connected, and that's the perspective I bring to every person I see.

Frequently asked

The questions that come up before a first appointment.

If yours isn't here, write to me.

Does it hurt?

The needles are much finer than the ones used for blood tests, so most people don't feel them go in. You may feel a heaviness or warmth around the acupuncture point, and that's normal.

Can I come if I'm pregnant or taking medication?

Yes, in both cases. Mention it at your first appointment, because certain points are avoided during pregnancy, and because medication is taken into account in the treatment.

Do I need a medical referral?

No. You can see an acupuncturist directly, without a referral from a doctor.

Are CNESST and SAAQ claims accepted?

Yes, these claims are accepted. Write to me with your claim details and I'll get back to you with the next steps.

What the research says

Acupuncture has been studied for decades.

Here are three scientific reviews you can read for yourself.

Chronic pain

Acupuncture relieves chronic pain, and the effect holds up over time.

Vickers et al., The Journal of Pain, 2018

Read the study: Chronic pain

Tension headaches

Treatments reduce how often tension headaches occur.

Cochrane Review, Linde et al., 2016

Read the study: Tension headaches

Nausea

Stimulating a single point reduces nausea and vomiting after surgery.

Cochrane Review, Lee et al., 2025

Read the study: Nausea

These reviews look at groups, not individual cases. They predict nothing for your body, they confirm that the effect is real.
